Stars make Hay… and hope the sun will shine.

Thursday 18 May 2017

2017 marks the 30th anniversary of the Hay Festival, the UK’s largest literary festival. The world-famous event brings together scribes and sages to share their thoughts on a diverse array of subjects, from science to literature, technology to film, and architecture to art.  This year a host of celebrities will take the stage to consider some of the world’s bigger questions.

Stephen Fry will share his philosophy on creating a better world as part of the Festival’s 30 Reformations programme, while artist Tracy Emin and writer Germaine Greer will join discussions on the latest trends in art, history and health. Graham Norton, Sir Tony Robinson, Sandi Toksvig and Ken Loach will also take the stage to lead conversation events.

The Hay 30

A special feature of this year’s festival will be appearances by The Hay 30 – a group of 30 young novelists, scientists, philosophers and performers who will help imagine and shape the world in the next 30 years.  A highlight for younger members of the literary fraternity is sure to be an appearance by acclaimed children’s author Jacqueline Wilson, creator of Tracy Beaker.

Serious about Hay

To add to the party atmosphere, the programme of over 800 events during the 10 day Festival which runs from May 25th-June 4th will include appearances by Eddie Izzard, Will Young, Amy Macdonald, Brian May, Marcus Brigstocke and Shappi Khorsandi. On a more serious note, this year the Serious team are also proud to be attending the event, showcasing  our  latest advances in reading light technology. Why not come and see us at stand 15?
