Charity raises an amazing £1.8 million to help people without sight
Saturday 24 August 2019Christian Blind Mission has raised a huge £1.8 million through a campaign named ‘See the way’.
The impressive figure was raised from donations to the charity between February and May this year. This was then matched by the UK government and then further boosted by Gift aid.
The money will help those in need of sight-saving surgery. People who are located in the poorest places tend to go blind due to treatable eye diseases, like cataracts. This is because they cannot either afford or access the surgery required to prevent it from happening. The money raised will also fund the need for glasses and additional support.
People with sight problems in poor areas can lose the ability to:
· Socialise · Earn a living · Go to school · Live independently
Their next project, matched with the UK government funding, will take them to Rwanda in October 2019. Their goal is to provide health services that will produce eye-saving help to over 385,000 people.
